On behalf of all of the staff at Taveuni Palms we would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us.
If there is anything we can do to help make your stay more enjoyable or if you have any special requests please do not hesitate to let us know.
Barry and Colleen
Service Staff
Your villa staff will arrive and be on the end of the telephone every morning at 7 am. They will be here until you advise them that you will no longer be requiring their service and then they will retire for the evening. If you should need your staff earlier than 7 am please let one of us know as we will be more than happy to arrange this.
Sanitary Items
Please kindly note that Taveuni Palms works on a septic tank so sanitary items such as tampons, pads and condoms cannot be flushed down the toilet as it will cause the system to block. Please dispose of these items in the sanitary bag provided and put them in the bin.
Laundry
We have provided you with a laundry bag in your wardrobe. Please place anything you wish to have washed in the bag. Please let the staff know when you wish for your clothing to be washed. There is a laundry fee of FJ$20 per load.
Being on an outer island we try to be as environmentally conscious as possible. Your housekeeper will change your bed sheets every second day. Should you wish to have your bed sheets changed daily please do not hesitate to let the staff know.
Pool Floats
If you require pool floats, please call one of the service staff and they will bring it in for you
Snorkeling
Please kindly note that a snorkeling float has been provided with your villa. When snorkeling in front of the villas, Fijian Law requires you to announce your presence in the water to boat traffic by strapping the red and white float to your ankle whilst snorkeling. Please call one of the service staff and they will bring it in for you with your snorkeling gear.
Please don’t hesitate to ask your service staff for a life jacket while you are doing any water activities which will be provided complimentary.
Privacy – The Red Coconut
To maximize privacy during your stay we have provided you with a red coconut. The red coconut indicates to staff that under no circumstances do you wish to be disturbed.
If you require absolute privacy please place the red coconut
Beach Villa – on the floor by the service entrance.
Horizon Spa Villa – On the side of the pool by the service entrance.
The staff will not enter your villa unannounced unless we have unexpected rain or wind and need to bring in cushions or take down an umbrella. If they see the red coconut displayed they understand that you request that they do not perform this task at that time.
Power
Taveuni Palms provides 24-hour power through our generator. Very occasionally we have temporary power outages. If such should occur please just hang tight as it usually takes just a few minutes to come back on.
Please contact the staff before using any personal electrical appliances such as hair dryers, curling tongs or an iron. Because we generate our own power supply we ask that you please follow the following guidelines and warnings. Failure to do this could result in personal injury. Please ask a member of staff to assist you when using any personal electric devices.
Air conditioning is provided in the bedrooms. Please ensure that all windows and doors are closed when using the air conditioning. Please do not reduce the a/c below 18 degrees as this overloads the air conditioner.
Please ensure each member of your party reads and understands the above warning and guidelines.
Tipping
We often have guests ask us about our tipping policy.
We kindly ask that you do not give our staff cash directly during your stay.
Gratuity is not mandatory but very much appreciated by our 15 staff. Should you wish to tip the staff at the end of your stay we handle all gratuities by placing them in a “Staff Christmas Fund”
The fund is equally distributed to our entire staff at Christmas time or you can designate to us those who you would like to extend a gratuity and it will be handled as you wish.
Please let Colleen know if you have any questions.
Again, we want to reiterate that the service you receive during your stay is sincere and genuine not simply a service in return for tips but if you wish to thank the staff by leaving a gratuity then you are welcome to do so.
Vinaka,
Colleen
Last Minute Cancellation Fee
Please kindly note that a 50% cancellation fee will apply to a last minute cancellation on the morning of a booked excursion.
The local villages do a lot of preparations when they are notified of an excursion and reserve guides for the day. In turn, the villages incur costs before we arrive for an excursion.
Please kindly note for scuba diving, deep sea fishing and some of the boating excursions we use an outside operator, who has a 24-hour cancellation policy. We have indicated this at the bottom of the excursion description; if this policy applies please let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your understanding
