Bula
One of the must-do experiences when you visit Fiji is a traditional kava ceremony. Kava or Yaqona is made from the powdered root of the plant and mixed with water. Kava is an important ritual and is focused around the Kava Tanoa bowl, the bowl in situated in front of the leader and the cup is filled and shared for the guests to drink. The Fijians are very welcoming and friendly people so are happy to explain the process and kava ceremony etiquette to you. After you have finished drinking the kava you will feel relaxed and calm. Your mouth and lips may also feel a little numb. Photo Credit: Kamacatchme Photography.
