It is all good for me to talk about Taveuni Island since I live here and I am lucky enough to experience it everyday. However I think it would be great for you to learn a bit more of the fun facts about the island too. Taveuni is the third largest island in Fiji (after Viti Levu and Vanua Levu) and is called the ‘Garden Island of Fiji’ due to the abundance of flora. The island is 42 kilometres long (26 miles) and between 10 to 14 kilometres wide (6 to 9 miles). Taveuni is a popular toursit destination with excellent diving opportunites (the Rainbow Reef is the soft coral capital of the world), a large variety of birdlife, bushwalks, waterfalls and fishing are just some of the more common activities. The island is volcanic so this supports the rich agriculture which is a significant part of the economy.
